WHAT WE BELIEVE

AT KIDS ON THE RISE, WE BELIEVE THAT MENTORS:

  • Help students stay in school.
  • Help improve a student's self-esteem.
  • Help students reach their full potential.

No two students have the same challenging life situations. Many of them may be experiencing an opportunity gap that keeps them from becoming all they can be. That’s why our mentors work with each student on a           case-by-case basis depending on their individual needs.

Students are referred to our program by their teacher or school counselor. We then match an adult volunteer with a student to form a mentor team.

The team meets weekly either at, or away from the school, or during special activities planned by Kids On The Rise.

This positive, consistent, one-on-one relationship helps build a level of trust between the adult and the student to enhance learning and life skills.

Mentoring is a development strategy for a kid's successful path to adulthood.

A supportive and caring adult works with a child or youth to build a relationship by offering guidance, support, and encouragement to cultivate positive and healthy development.

"Every kid is one caring adult away from being a success story."
